We believe that responsible and sustainable construction can make a significant contribution to the quality of life and health of the planet. Our design approach is based on a holistic view of the building, its surroundings and its people as a unique and interconnected system. The aim is to be a bridge between the past and the future, offering solutions that not only allow the preservation of existing heritage but also enrich and enhance it, making it accessible to future generations.

Sustainability
Based on the principles of the circular economy, we aim towards construction that reduces waste and recovers some of the materials used in the production process, giving life to buildings with low environmental impact. To achieve these goals, we adopt voluntary sustainability protocols, such as GBC Italia and LEED. We introduced the application of minimum environmental criteria (known in Italy as CAM) when this tool was still little known and used in our industry.
Renovation
Over the years the company has specialized in the regeneration and sustainable restoration of historic buildings, with more than 70 years of life, representing 46.5 % of the Italian building heritage.
In the context of restoration, we are committed to preserving the historical and cultural value of buildings by integrating bio-architecture techniques (such as passive ventilation systems, use of renewable sources and use of natural materials as insulators) that improve energy efficiency and living comfort. These interventions not only respect the historical integrity of buildings, but also make them more sustainable and adaptable to modern needs.
Post-earthquake Reconstruction
The earthquake which happened on 20 and 29 May 2012 had a great impact on a large portion of the Emilia area, causing considerable damage to residential, industrial, monumental and ecclesiastical buildings. Since then, we have gained a great deal of experience in the design of earthquake damage restoration projects, managing complex cases.
Every project is seen as an opportunity to apply our advanced know-how in earthquake-proof design and structural redevelopment, ensuring seismic resistance of buildings and their adaptation to current regulations. In addition to operating in the Emilia area, we have also worked on several projects in Central Italy where we are contributing to the post-earthquake reconstruction following the events of 2016.
BIM
Binariolab has been using the BIM methodology for years in the implementation of its projects, from new construction to renovation, applying the same methodology also to its own restoration works, in which we talk about HBIM – Historic or Heritage Building Modelling – works where a first phase of appreciation of the property is fundamental, carried out through laser scanner and photogrammetric surveys with the creation of point clouds which then become the basis for subsequent modelling.
We use Authoring Autodesk Revit BIM software to create individual discipline models and Autodesk Navisworks Manage software to coordinate and manage the 4D (time scheduling) and 5D (cost management) phases.
Team
Our team is constantly growing and now has 14 operational resources, including partners, employees and associates.
We are convinced that the successful outcome of each project stems from the attention to detail and the care for human relationships that are developed during the design and implementation process. Every member of our team is an integral part of this philosophy, contributing their experience and sensitivity to creating design solutions that reflect fundamental human values, always putting trust, respect and empathy first. Our ideal is to build not only buildings, but strong and lasting ties with those around us.

Legal Representative Partner
Graduated from the University of Ferrara in 2003, he is a registered member of the Professional Order of Engineers of the Province of Ferrara. A civil engineer with over twenty years of experience, he has a consolidated background in structural design, architectural restoration, and Project Management. Since 2016, he has served as the Sole Director of Binario Lab, where he coordinates seismic improvement and retrofitting activities for the public, private, and ecclesiastical sectors. His career is distinguished by a deep specialization in post-earthquake reconstruction and restoration, gained by addressing the structural damage caused by the earthquakes in Emilia and Central Italy. His expertise spans from the recovery of monumental and historic buildings—such as Palazzo Gulinelli and numerous churches within the Archdiocese of Ferrara and Comacchio—to the management of modern civil buildings and complex industrial facilities. Furthermore, he is a qualified expert in construction site safety and fire prevention, and holds a certification as an energy auditor. His professional profile is completed by a Master’s degree in Forensic Engineering and a qualification as a Civil and Commercial Mediator at the Ferrara Chamber of Commerce.

Having graduated with honors from the Politecnico di Milano, he further enriched his profile with a Master’s degree in Bio-architecture in Bologna and a specialization in Architecture and Sacred Arts from the European University of Rome. As a Senior Architect with over twenty years of experience, he possesses a solid background in eco-sustainable architectural design, historical heritage restoration, and Project Management. His career is defined by a specialization in sustainable restoration and post-earthquake reconstruction, fields in which he applies cutting-edge methodologies such as H-BIM (Heritage Building Information Modeling) and high-level energy-environmental certification protocols. Among his most celebrated works is the regeneration of Palazzo Gulinelli in Ferrara—the first mixed-use building in the world to achieve the GBC Historic Building® GOLD level certification. This project has won numerous accolades, including the BIM&Digital Awards and the Leadership in Design & Performance Award. In addition to his professional practice, Arch. Ferrari is deeply involved in academic and research activities. He is an Adjunct Professor at the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia (UNIMORE) and Roma Tre University, and has been a speaker at international forums in Cuba, Lebanon, and Bahrain on the topic of energy efficiency in historic buildings. His institutional expertise is further demonstrated by his role as a Member of the Advisory Board (Consigliere di Indirizzo) of GBC Italia from 2020 to 2024.
