• Architectural Project for ordinary maintenance work on the building’s facades
Palazzo Ex Ina
Situated in an exceptionally prominent position overlooking Largo Castello and facing the monumental Estense Castle, the ex-INA Palace represents one of the most significant examples of twentieth-century architecture in Ferrara.
The intervention focused on the routine maintenance and conservative restoration of the facades of this heritage-protected building, which is set within a context of extremely high cultural value and located inside the city's UNESCO World Heritage site. Designed in the 1930s by the INA Real Estate Services Office (directed by Engineer Cipriani alongside Architects Giuseppe Machin and Ferdinando Forlani), the palace was conceived with the intention of harmonizing with the grand scale of the Estense Castle without appearing "pretentious."

In line with our intervention philosophy, we prioritized the use of low environmental impact and biocompatible products: salt extraction through the use of Agar rigid gel, an ecological alternative that leaves no residue on materials; surface protection with anti-graffiti barriers derived from renewable plant-based substances; and a natural anti-fouling treatment based on oregano and thyme essential oils, which is fully biodegradable and biocompatible.

In addition to the aesthetic and material restoration of the facades, the intervention successfully integrated the requirements necessary to access the Superbonus eco-incentive scheme. This guaranteed a two-class energy upgrade for the residential units, thereby blending the preservation of the historic heritage with contemporary living comfort.
